Jacqueline qui a grandi à Carthage, en Tunisie, s'est très tôt intéressée à l'art et au design, puisant son inspiration des vestiges de l'antiquité romaine environnants. Elle a d'abord exercé la peinture avant d'explorer les techniques de la forge. Des grands joailliers comme Cartier et Van Cleef & Arpels ont été attirés par les créations Jean Mahie, mais les designers qui souhaitaient conserver leur style bien particulier en créant que des pièces uniques, ont choisi de distribuer leur production exclusivement via Neiman Marcus à New York. C'est ainsi que la ligne Jean Mahie est devenue culte dans toute l'Europe et aux Etats-Unis. Jacqueline, who grew up in Carthagena, Tunisia, was interested very early on by art and design, inspired by the remnants of roman antiquity. She first became a painter before entering the forge. Major jewelers such as Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels took interest in Jean Mahie, but the designers wished to keep their specific style, creating only unique piece, and chose to only distribute their work through Neiman Marcus in NYC. Thus, the Jean Mahie production became iconic throughout Europe and the United States.
