~ JEAN-PIERRE FEULARD (Châteaudun, 1790-Le Havre, 1849) PORTRAIT OF A ROMANTIC AND DARK YOUNG MAN, HEADDRESS WITH BROWN LOCKS, IN THREE-QUARTER BUST ON THE RIGHT IN ANTHRACITE SUIT, WHITE WAISTCOAT, GOLD TIE-PIN Oval miniature on ivory signed and dated on the left along the frame: "Feulard 181". Blackened wooden frame with artist's label on verso: "FEULARD / [p]eintre en Portraits/ Palais-Royal N° 127, / Galerie de Valois/ A PARIS." (rect. 12,5 x 11 CM) Small discoloration on the sleeve Portrait of a young romantic man, oval miniature on ivory, artist's label on reverse, small discolouration on sleeve 6,8 x 5,6 CM - 2,6 x 2,2 IN. Total weight : 0,088 kg PROVENANCE Rubin de Rays family; Eugène Rubin de Rays (1906-2001); then his widow. A pupil of Louis-François Aubry, Feulard père exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1819 to 1848; he was based at the Palais-Royal, as the (rare) artist's label on the reverse of this work indicates, before moving to Le Havre.
