Jeanne PIFFARD (1892-1971). First step of the lamb. Bronze patina signed on the terrace. Circa 1937. Height : 23 cm 23 cm - Width: 29 cm Note: Enrolled at the Académie Julian, her classes with Edouard Navellier, an animal sculptor, had a decisive influence on her first animal subjects, horses and donkeys. In the 1920s and 1930s, she took part in a number of major exhibitions, including the Salon des Artistes Français in 1924. She went on to win the First Grand Prize at the 1937 Universal Exhibition with the monumental Porte d'Honneur for the Centre rural in collaboration with Jean Dunant. She took part in the "Artists of this Time" exhibition at the Petit Palais in 1938, and her work, following that of Pompon and Albéric Collin, was presented at the Venice Biennale in 1940.
