Russia, late 19th/early 20th century. Silver rocaille by Julius Rappoport (1851–1917), master craftsman at Fabergé.
Rectangular body made of birch burlwood with silver fittings in the form of rocaille and flowers, marked IP and with a St. Petersburg 1899–1908 mark. On a later silver plaque inscribed “A token of sincere thanks from the Sergeievs,” indistinctly marked. Hinged lid opens onto a false shelf. A secret compartment in the base. 1 key.
23.5 × 17.5 × 13 cm.
Silver oxidized. Minor losses and additions, scratches and cracks in the wood.
