Lot no. 177
JIMI HENDRIX (1942/1970): Stage trousers by the legendary American guitarist and singer. Bought in London, these trousers are decorated with arabesques in shades of pink and gold, and are made from polyester and satin. For the record, during his stays in Paris, Jimi Hendrix stayed with Johnny Hallyday. When he left, he forgot a few personal items, including these famous trousers. Recovered and given to a guitarist friend in Toulouse by Ticky Holgado, Johnny's secretary at the time, the trousers have reappeared today, after 57 years! In 1966, Ticky Holgado became Johnny Hallyday's confidant and private secretary. He slept in a room in the flat of the rocker, whose morale was at its lowest during this period, due to marital problems with Sylvie Vartan and major tax problems. Johnny even attempted suicide on 10 September 1966. It was Ticky Holgado, alongside Jean-Pierre Pierre-Bloch, Johnny's press attaché, who broke down the bathroom door to discreetly transport the rocker's unconscious body to Lariboisière hospital. Incidentally, it was after this suicide attempt that Johnny Hallyday went to London to record some new songs. And during that week, one evening, he met Jimi Hendrix at "Blaises", a London club. Stunned by the musician's virtuosity, Hallyday offered to hire him to open for him at his next concerts. The first run-in gala took place on 13 October 1966 in Evreux, in the Eure region of France, with Jimi Hendrix as support act. Three more concerts followed before Johnny Hallyday's comeback at the Olympia on 18 October 1966. Frame size 118x50 cm, with 8 mm thick glass. Museum piece.
