JOHN REA EAST INDIA COMPANY FLINTLOCK PISTOL. Ca. AD 1802. A smoothbore flintlock pistol adorned on both the lock plate and barrel with the East India Company merchant mark, a quartered heart with an initial in each quadrant surmounted with the digit 4. Both the lock plate and barrel are engraved with the year 1802 and the maker's mark REA for John Rea of London. The handle of this weapon has been repaired, likely during the weapon's working life, and the mechanism appears to be working correctly.
