JOHN RICHARD LONDON, WHITE MARBLE AND GILT BRONZE PENDULUM CLOCK, FRANCE CIRCA 1760 An elegant white marble and gilt bronze grandfather clock with an architectural structure composed of a plinth base, decorated with festoons, and two obelisk-shaped uprights, holding the clock and surmounted by ball bisants. Above the clock, supported by a fluted column base, stands a Minerva with lance and shield. Underglaze dial in white enamel with Roman numerals, Arabic numerals at 5 o'clock for the minutes, date window in violet, gilded bronze mercury hands, date hand in burnished steel, signature at 6 o'clock, movement with wire suspension, anchor escapement, hour and half-hour strike on bell, light pendulum with Sun King.
