After attending the Graz School of Applied Arts, he studied at the Vienna Academy from 1893 to 1898 (1893/1894 guest student) with K. v. Zumbusch and E. Hellmer sculpture. Numerous works are in public spaces: "The Liberation of the Source" in the Vienna City Park (1902/1903), group of figures on the attic of the House of the Vienna Merchants in Vienna 1, Schwarzenbergplatz (1903); Statue of St. Johannes in the K. Lueger Memorial Church on the Wr. Central Cemetery; Young man figure "Dying Strength" in the Döblinger Cemetery in Vienna; Portrait relief of the Wolf grave in the Döbling cemetery (behind the arcades); Gable stele on the Austrian grave at the Döbling cemetery; "Young man with a goose" in Vienna Hietzing, Jenulgasse 9-13 (1930). From 1902 to 1909 he was a member of the Hagenbund (leaving with J. Urban and H. Lefler), and in 1913 he exhibited as a guest with the Hagenbund in the Vienna Künstlerhaus. From 1919 he was a member of the Vienna Künstlerhaus; He was also a member of the Austrian Society for Christian Art and its president from 1930 to 1934. In 1938/1939 Heu emigrated to Ampleforth in England with his Jewish wife. There he led v. a. Commissioned works from monasteries and churches (mostly in wood), as well as watercolour paintings.
