Joseph CHINARD (1756 - 1813) after : Bust of Juliette Récamier in terracotta. Bears the apocryphal signature of Houdon. H: 60 - W: 35 cm (some dirt and small missing pieces) Joseph Chinard, Lyon 1756-1813. In 1786 he was awarded the prize of the Academy of Saint Luc in Rome. In 1807 he was appointed professor of sculpture at the Ecole Spéciale de Dessin in Lyon, where he remained until his death in 1813 at the age of 57. He was awarded a gold medal at the Salon de Paris in 1808.
