At the end of 1805, he modelled two official portraits of the Emperor's elder sister and her husband Felice Baciocchi. At the request of the Grand Duchess of Tuscany, who took to heart her role as promoter of imperial power by distributing princely portraits, the sculptor first produced two small official busts in terracotta, then two life-size marbles with a few variations (private collection, Milan). The small terracotta versions were intended to be distributed and offered as diplomatic gifts to the various courts of Europe. Joseph CHINARD and workshop (Lyon, 1756 - 1813)
