Art Nouveau figurine "Tyre Thrower" by Meissen. Octagonal base. A young, antique-style woman in a long, wafer-thin, pale green gown with a gold-engraved belt buckle, standing in a lunge with her right leg stretched out in front of her. Her finely streaked, light brown hair is loosely tied back with a large, pink-coloured bow. Holding a staff in her outstretched right hand and throwing a hoop with her left. Polychrome painting with gold staffage. Designed by Reinhold Boeltzig (Böltzig), 1909; removable brass staff and hoop. Model no. A 235, unmarked; sword mark. H. 39 cm. The sculptor, who trained at the Berlin Academy between 1896 and 1900, became known at the beginning of the 20th century for a series of Art Nouveau works and was honoured at the 1904 World Exhibition in St. Louis.
