Jules Didier entered the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1852 and studied under Léon Cogniet and Jules Laurens. He won the Prix de Rome for Historical Landscape in 1857 with Jesus and the Samaritan Woman. He stayed in Italy from 1858 to 1861. He won a medal at the Paris Salon in 1869.
