Julius Victor Carstens (1849 Nusse - 1908 Pasing) Fruit still life Still life painted with loose brushstrokes and impasto style, in which grapevines and a quince are loosely arranged on a green tablecloth against a neutral background and staged with effective lighting. Characteristic work by Carstens, who trained at the Weimar School of Painting and subsequently settled in Munich, where he regularly socialised with artists such as Franz von Lenbach and Franz von Stuck, including in the Allotria artists' society.
