Kabuto, Japan
So-called Kabuto helmet, several parts assembled and riveted together, poor condition, H+-24cm. Note: The kabuto (兜, 冑?) is the traditional helmet of Japanese armour, used by the samurai. It is made in the shape of a bomb, composed of various forged metal plates riveted together, protecting the top of the skull as well as a series of flexible slats (shikoro) protecting the neck. These helmets could be adorned with a maedate (frontal ornament) and bear the mon (coat of arms of the clan to which the samurai belonged).
