Cast brass, engraved. In triangular form with slightly curved walls, open-worked with mythical creatures. The corner edges with staggered dragons, the feet also ending in the shape of dragons.
15 × 15 × 7.5 cm.
Feet bent, somewhat worn in places.
A pair of candlesticks with a comparable foot with the staggered dragon motif in the Diözesanmuseum in Münster i.W. (Otto v. Falke and Erich Meyer. Bronze implements of the Middle Ages. Volume 1. Romanesque candlesticks and vessels Gothic moulding vessels. Berlin 1983. fig. 115, p. 53). A further comparison results from a candlestick in Münstermeifeld in the Eifel, described as West German, 2nd half of the 12th century (ibid. fig. 94, p. 45).
