Ink and pigments on paper. This series of four drawings enhanced in watercolour, two by Kano Tomonobu and two others by Kajita Hanko, are very probably some of the original drawings used to illustrate, in print form, "les fables choisies de J.-P. Claris de Florian", edited by P. Barboutau. Published by Librairie Marpon & Flammarion, Tokio & Paris, 1895.
It includes illustrations of the following fables: From series 1, "The Nightingale and the Prince" by Tomonobu. From series 2, "The Quack" by Hanko, the right-hand side of the double page of the fable "The Peasant and the River" by Tomonobu, and finally "The Two Bald Men" illustrated by Hanko.
