Original title Atmospheric impression of the Upper Black Forest, painted in a soft, pastose style, masterfully capturing the play of colours of the sun's rays on the snow-covered mountain slopes in light and colour. This is a characteristic work by Hauptmann, who created snowy landscapes with a great depth of atmosphere and a pronounced love of the mountains like few others. His winter views of the Black Forest in particular quickly found their circle of collectors and made him widely known.
