Lot no. 2636
Karlheinz Oswald (Born 1958 Worms. Based in Zurich)
Stele figure
Bronze, dark patina. Expressive, contemporary depiction, moving in a dance-like manner, in which the human figure corresponds entirely to the model's immediate creative process and oscillates between figuration and abstraction. Oswald characteristically emphasises the dynamic expression of the sculpture by composing it on a high point, as he does in a number of other works. Oswald studied sculpture in Mainz from 1981-1990 under Werner Durth, Heinz Hemrich and Peter Lörincz. As early as 1985, he received the Daniel Henry Kahnweiler Prize for his work, which was followed by numerous awards and exhibitions. In addition to smaller works, he has created numerous pieces for public spaces, squares and parks. One focus of his work is dancers, for whom he undertook intensive studies with dance companies. Overall height 184 cm; plinth 54.5 cm x 39 cm.
Dark patinated bronze.
