In 1922 Hasui undertook one of his longest journeys, visiting various places in western Honshū and travelling through Kyūshū. A series of thirty-six prints in aiban format was published based on the sketches he made along the way, under the title Nihon fūkei senshū. They were sold through the Ukiyo-e Research Association (Ukiyo-e kenkyūkai) in twelve sets of three, each in a titled sleeve. Thirty of the prints were made in 1922 and 1923, up until the Kantō earthquake in 1923. Only one block of the series survived, a scene in Okayama, which was printed shortly after the disaster. The last five prints were published between 1924 and 1926. The title of the series is added by hand, which means that it is sometimes missing.
