Complete handwritten draft, with few erasures, written in ink and sometimes in pencil, on a combination of various leaves. A short story tinged with irony, recounting the passage of the young Regnon (at the beginning of the manuscript, he is called "Regnol") into the Dupaton family as a repetiteur; Kessel, in the final punchline, seems to relish a certain generational conflict and gives pride of place to youth. Perhaps a work of youth.
