This second series follows that produced by the Marquis de Valognes, published by Monnier in 1885, and illustrated by Rops and Ferdinand Bac. Superb enigmatic etching by Fernand Khnopff. The novel Istar is the fifth part of Péladan's ethopée sur les mœurs latines, begun in 1884 and which will tell 21 in all (the last will appear in 1925). First edition, published for the Order of the Rose Cross, of these extracts from the various volumes already published of the Latin ethopoeia of Joséphin, known as the Sâr (magus), Péladan. The work was published for the general public in 1894 by Chamuel, with the addition of extracts from the two works published in the meantime.
