In-folio of [16]-72-[6] pages, brown calf, spine ribbed and decorated (contemporary binding). [8] ff, 72 pp, [3] ff and 5 plates, granulated calf, spine ribbed and decorated (contemporary binding). First edition of this famous work on Egyptology, illustrated with 6 plates (1 double) and numerous mysterious figures in the text, engraved on wood or copper: hieroglyphs, mummies, crypts, pyramids, etc. According to Eliphas Levi, this work contains the hieroglyphic key to the sacred alphabets which Moses made the great secret of his Kabbalah and which he learned from the Egyptians (Caillet, 5793). Small cut on the title but not missing, hinges and corners restored, foxing due to the quality of the paper (Dorbon, 2390). Ex-libris Augustin Seguin.
