Klaus Philipp (1932 Aue/Erzgebirge - 2023 near Cologne) "Steeplechase" ("Tiefengeläuf"). Original title Impressionistic depiction of a race. Klaus Philipp, who is considered one of the best contemporary horse painters, has been interested in horses since his youth. In addition to his work as a police rider and head of the mounted police in Stuttgart, he devoted himself to painting horses. He retired from the police force in 1980 and turned his full attention to his passion. He depicted numerous legendary horses and their riders, sometimes on behalf of their wealthy, prominent, international owners, and exhibited many of them. Mixed media (wax crayon and oil pastel)/canvas; signed, dated and titled verso on the back board. 1981 and titled, material details on verso. 21 cm x 28.5 cm. Frame. Mixed media on canvas.
