Small baroque maternity bowl, probably from a travelling service
Silver, fully gilt. Bulbous body with smooth, vertically divided walls, decorated with finely chased and chiselled scrolls and shell work. A cartouche on the side with two doves courting. On the opposite side, the detailed engraved coat of arms of the Wild and Rhine Counts of Salm-Kyrburg, framed by two wild men. Grips formed from shellwork on both sides. Overlapping, correspondingly worked lid with a trumpet-shaped, gadrooned base, usable as a bowl. Monogr. "S R" on the underside. Marked, tremolier line, hallmark, master Salomon Dreyer (becomes master 1735). Weight approx. 130 g. H. 7 cm. 11 cm x 7 cm.
