Small Louis XVI lidded bowl, so-called Ecuelle. Silver. Flat stand, merging into a conical, smooth bowl. Two matching curved, moulded handles with leaf decoration in relief on the sides. Domed plug-in lid with bud finial over a rosette of lancet-shaped leaves. Gilt interior. Marked 13 lot, inspection mark, master Jacob Heinrich Alberti (becomes master 1764), marks partly unrecognisable, probably year letter. Weight approx. 165 g. H. 6 cm. D. 8.8 cm. Cf. Rosenberg, vol. IV, no. 6933 f., 7015. A French Louis XVI silver lidded bowl by Jacob Heinrich Alberti (master since 1764). Gilt inside. Standard mark 13 lot, assay mark, master's mark, probably date letter, partly made unrecognisable. France. Strasbourg. Around 1780.
