Small majolica picture plate from Urbino Flat shape with a small, barely recessed mirror. Chamois-coloured glaze, all-over polychrome decoration of a resting Venus with drapery in a wide landscape. Verso old handwritten inscription (around 1900) "Dublette a.(us) d.(em) MUSEUM z. BNRAUNSCHWEIG No= 114 (/) URBINO". D. 19.7 cm. Provenance: from the Michahelles Collection, Hamburg, which has grown over generations; formerly in the museum in Braunschweig. A small Italian Urbino polychrome painted maiolica dish with reclining Venus in a landscape. Old inscription (circa 1900) with provenance on the reverse (formerly in the Museum in Brunswick). Italy. Urbino. Circa 1570-1580.
