Iena, Gaspars Freischmied, 1657. Small oblong in-8 (101 x 155 mm), ivory vellum (contemporary binding). Frontispiece, title, (4) ff. 106 pp. one folding plate (knives and forks) and 23 engraved plates out of text. Extremely rare edition. The frontispiece depicts a meal for 15 people in a dining room, surrounded by the chef and service staff. There is a fold-out plate showing knives and forks, and 23 plates showing the cutting of game and poultry, as well as fish, shellfish and fruit. According to Weiss (Gastronomia, no. 1939), the attribution to Klett is highly doubtful, as the text is taken literally from the Harsdorffer published in the same year, and the copperplate is identical to that of Mathias Geigher.
