Print, oban yoko-e, from the series Tōkyō meisho zu (東京名所図), Famous Views of Tokyo, plate Meiji juyon nen ni gatsu juichi nichi yoru taika: Hisamatsucho ni shite miru shukka (明治十四年二月十一日夜大火 久柗町二而見る出火), The great fire on the night of 11 February 1881: starting the fire from Hisamatsu-chō. Signed Kobayashi Kiyochika hitsu. Publisher Fukuda Kumajiro. Dated Meiji 14 (1881).

This print documents one of the two great fires that destroyed the Ryōgoku district in which Kiyochika lived in early 1881. The fire that destroyed his house took place on 26 January, while the one depicted in this print started two weeks later on 11 February 1881. He made sketches of this second fire, which he then translated into a print.
