While the General was recovering from his cataract operation, Koenig spoke of Jacques Soustelle's attitude in preparing a possible support for a transitional ministry. "In any case, the RPF made a comeback in parliament. Soustelle was excellent in every way! - But some people's anger is not about to subside... This is going to cause us a lot of problems tomorrow". Contact with the MRP was excellent; details of relations with the other parties. The military were "satisfied that the RPF is playing a role and is, whether we like it or not, at the centre of the crisis. The crisis continues as never before and the problem remains that of finding a broader majority. - We will be able to set the conditions for possible support". There was talk of Bidault and André Marie (or Teitgen or R. Mayer) as the successors to Soustelle: "So the Élysée Palace has more than one trick up its sleeve"... He would like to see de Gaulle soon... "I'm afraid 1953 will be the crucial year when the die will be cast. May events bring you back to the helm of affairs in time, for the good of France"...
