Julius Kugy (Goritz 1858 - Trieste 1944) was an Austrian mountaineer and writer of Slovenian descent. Julius Kugy explored many regions of the Eastern Alps and in particular the Julian Alps, achieving some fifty first ascents, including the West Ridge of Triglav, Slovenia's highest peak, in 1881.
