Julius Kugy (Goritz 1858 - Trieste 1944) was an Austrian mountaineer and writer of Slovenian descent. Julius Kugy explored many regions of the Eastern Alps and in particular the Julian Alps, achieving some fifty first ascents, including the West Ridge of Triglav, Slovenia's highest peak, in 1881. Berlin, Roth & Co, 1942 (2nd edition). In-8°, half cloth binding with publisher's illustrated boards. Illustrated with 16 hors-texte photographs. An account of the main ascents made by H. Pfann over a period of around half a century. Hans Pfann (Nuremberg 1873-1958) was one of the most famous German unguided mountaineers of the early twentieth century: in 56 years of mountaineering, he made more than a thousand ascents, including some fifty first ascents: the North Ridge of the Zugspitze, the North Ridge of the Fleichsbank, Illampu in the Andes, the winter ascent of the Marmolada, etc. À
