"La bressane" shop sign
In stuccoed and polychrome wood. Sculpture in the round depicting a Bressane woman in traditional Romenay costume, black, enhanced by a yellow apron edged with white lace. She is adorned with jewellery (probably enamel, but not clearly detailed and repainted), wears her typical black headdress and pretty shoes fastened with knotted ribbons. In her right hand, she is holding a black ribbon, the sides of which rest against her skirt. The circular moulded base holds a plaque engraved with the following words: "LA BRESSANE - XVIIIth CENTURY SCULPTURED AND POLYCHROME WOOD STATUE - JADIS Elle SERVAIT D'ENSEIGNE AU MAGASIN SITUE N°1. RUE GENTIL AND 29. RUE DE L'HOTEL-DE-VILLE, A LYON.
