Lorenzo embarked on a career as a clerk in the Royal Secretariat of State for War and the Navy, but in 1775 he left the Bourbon administration to devote himself to the design and setting up of large nativity scenes as well as nativity scene sculpture. Although he did not have an official role as sculptor and modeller in the Royal Factory of Ferdinand IV, around which revolved the most important figures of artists later involved in the production of sculptures for the nativity scene, his documented works often denote a high plastic level.
