Die allegorische Darstellung der Natur, welche ihren Schleier hebt und sich der Wissenschaft offenbart, wurde von Barrias erstmals - in einer Marmorversion - im Jahre 1893 im Pariser Salon präsentiert und von der Fakultät der École de Médecine in Bordeaux erworben. Im Zuge ihres überwältigenden Erfolgs schuf Barrias verschiedene Varianten der Skulptur. Eine weitere Version befindet sich beispielsweise in der Sammlung des Musée d'Orsay in Paris. The allegorical depiction of nature, who lifts her veil and reveals herself to science, was first presented by Barrias - as a marble version - in the year 1893 in the Salon de Paris and was bought by the department École de Médecine in Bordeaux . In response to her overwhelming success Barrias created further variations of the sculpture. One further version for example can be found in te collection of the Musée d'Orsay in Paris.
