Michel Giraud distinguished himself at the Battle of Algeciras, a naval battle that took place in the Bay of Gibraltar in July 1801, in which he was seriously wounded. He retired to Sainte-Foy-la-Grande.
Enclosed: a letter dated 24 Floréal year XII (13 May 1804) in which the mayor of Sainte-Foy and various inhabitants testify to the fact that Michel Giraud is a good citizen and not an emigrant.
