LACQUERED COMMODE Louis XV, Paris, mid-18th century. Wood with European black lacquer work, lacquered on all sides in the “goût chinois” with pagodas and a park landscape, figures, exotic plants and animals. Curved, trapezoidal body with prominent front corner studs on a wavy cut-out frame with curved legs. Front with 2 sans-traverse drawers. Chiseled, gilt bronze mounts and sabots. Later, profiled “Brèche d'Alep” marble top. Signed J. Dubois. 115 × 50 × 85 cm. Provenance: - Auction Ader/Picard/Tajan, Paris 21.2.1979, Lot 117. Geschweifter, trapezförmiger Korpus mit vorstehenden vorderen Eckstollen auf wellig ausgeschnittener Zarge mit geschweiften Beinen. In der Mitte gebauchte Front mit 2 Schubladen ohne Traverse. Ziselierte, vergoldete Bronzebeschläge und -sabots. Spätere, mehrfach profilierte "Brèche d'Alep"-Platte. Trägt eine Signatur J. Dubois. 115 × 50 × 85 cm.
