LARGE APULIAN RED-FIGURE SKYPHOS WITH LADY OF FASHION.
Ca. 400 - 300 BC
A red-figure terracotta skyphos with a tall, tapered body on a narrow foot and a pair of horizontal handles, the rim encircled by a continuous ovolo band. One side shows a draped female figure standing and holding a wreath; the other a standing youth with a mantle over his left arm, holding a phiale forward. Beneath each handle an upright palmette with scrolling tendrils forms a vertical divider, separating the two compositions.

Private London collection; previously acquired on the Belgian art market; originally in the collection of S Vanhoutte, Brussels 1990’s.
