Large Blue & White Porcelain Bowl with Landscape, Transitional Glazed blue and white porcelain China, Transitional period, 17th Century Bulbous body Slightly outward curved mouth rim Decorated with an encircling, highly detailed landscape painting On an open work wooden base (later) Imposing size Dimensions 46 x 53 cm Good condition Provenance: Private collection Italy Richly decorated jardinière of considerable size and deep sound from the Transitional period This Chinese porcelain bowl of superior size dates to the 17th century and shows on all sides a decoration with fine blue underglaze painting. The bulbous body rises on a round foot rim, tapers slightly downwards and forms a slightly convex mouth. The inside is glazed in white, only the foot shows the untreated color of the porcelain. The wall is decorated with an encircling landscape painting that invites to marvel and admire. A detailed mountain landscape with trees, pagodas, rolling by clouds, fishermen, and birds in the sky can be seen. The jardinière has a balanced shape and comes together with an open work wooden base of a later date. The porcelain bowl is in good condition with only slight age-related signs of wear such as tiny nicks at the base and small manufacturing flaws here and there.
