LARGE BUREAU-PLAT, Louis XV, stamped CAREL (Jacques Philippe Carel, maitre 1723), Paris circa 1730/40. Walnut, tulipwood, rosewood, maple and various precious woods in veneer and finely inlaid with flowers, cartouches, fillets and frieze. The shaped top lined with reddish brown gold-stamped leather and edged in bronze, with broad central drawer flanked by 1 drawer each side and the same but sham arrangement verso.
