LARGE COLLECTION OF BYZANTINE GOLD PENDANTS. Ca. AD 600 - 1000 A collection of nine gold pendants, including, from left to right in the upper row: a cross pendant formed from four hollow cylindrical arms decorated throughout with dense granulation and set with a circular central box with a round glass inlay, a simple suspension loop above; a filigree cross pendant with drop-shaped cells on each arm enclosing dark inlays, a granule at the centre and small loops at each finial; a small cross pendant built from stacked square knobs with a central boss and an upper suspension loop; and a globular polyhedral pendant with raised bosses and spiral elements arranged around the body and an arched suspension loop. In the lower row, five small gold cross pendants, each with a round central bezel in a beaded frame set with a dark blue glass cabochon and four narrow arms, each terminating in a small loop. Size: 16-23mm x 13-21mm; Weight: 12.3g. Provenance: Private London collection, acquired on the German art market, Munich before 2000. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
