LARGE EGYPTIAN BANDED CHALCITE VESSEL. Old Kingdom, Ca. 2686 - 2181 BC. A large banded calcite vessel with a broad everted disc rim above a short waisted neck and a tall, near-cylindrical wall that flares slightly to a flat base. For similar see: A. Bevan, Stone Vessels and Values in the Bronze Age Mediterranean, fig. 6.1. Size: 125mm x 120mm; Weight: 785g Provenance: Private London collection; previously in F. Piket collection, Netherlands, formed in the 1970s to the 1980s.
