LARGE EGYPTIAN FAIENCE SEATED SEKHMET AMULET. Late Period, Ca. 664 - 332 BC. A blue-green faience amulet of Sekhmet seated on a block throne. She has a lioness head surmounted by a round disc and wears a close-fitting sheath dress. Her feet rest on a small integral base, and a transverse perforation passes through the back. Size: 50mm x 20mm; Weight: 9g Provenance: Property of a London gallery; previously in a collection of a North London gentleman; formerly in a collection of Mrs B. Ellison, a deceased former member of the Egyptian Exploration Fund, bought from the 1940s, Cairo and London.
