LARGE EGYPTIAN PAINTED WOODEN ROWER. Middle Kingdom, Ca. 2055 - 1790 BC. A painted wooden figure of a boat rower carved with a short squared wig, a slender torso, and peg-set arms fitted into shoulder sockets. The left leg is advanced. Red pigment covers the flesh, with black on the wig. Mounted. For similar see: Sotheby's, 3 Dec 2024, Ancient Sculpture and Works of Art, Lot 402. Size: 295mm x 100mm; Weight: 305g Provenance: Private UK collection; previously acquired on the French art market in the 1970s.
