LARGE GREEK BRONZE RING WITH PROFILE OF NOBLEWOMAN.
Ca. 300 - 100 BC. A bronze ring with a large oval bezel engraved with the left-facing profile of a noblewoman, the hair drawn back in smooth waves to a low knot. The portrait shows a high forehead, a straight nose and small pursed lips above a rounded chin, with an almond-shaped eye set deep beneath a sharply incised upper lid and a short linear brow. The bezel is supported by a broad, flat-sided hoop that expands beneath the disc and contracts towards the back. For similar see: J.
