LARGE HEAD FRAGMENT, PROBABLY OF A GODDESS Campanian-Etruscan, 5th century BC. Terracotta, hollowed, perforated at the top of the polos crown. With a finely modeled face of a woman with large almond-shaped eyes and a pointed mouth, curly hair, hair ornament and polos crown. A necklace is partially visible. Mounted on a later base. H 34.5 cm. Provenance: - Dr. Vladimir Rosenbaum, Ascona (at Galleria Serodine). - Galleria Serodine, Ascona, 1970s until at least May 17, 2000. - Swiss private collection, acquired from the above gallery before 2002. Head cleaned. Smaller chips. Cracks in places on the surface. According to the consignor, the object on offer was presented at the TEFAF Maastricht in 2002. A copy of a notarized certificate from the Canton of Lucerne, dated 2003, is available. Photos of the head fragment before and after cleaning are dated on the back 14.04.00 and 17Mag00, respectively, and labeled Ascona. It can therefore be assumed that the object on offer was in the possession of the Galleria Serodine in Ascona up until this date. ------------------------------------------------- GROSSES KOPFFRAGMENT WOHL EINER GÖTTIN Campano-etruskisch, 5. Jh. v. Chr. Terrakotta gehöhlt, oben am Polos perforiert. Fein modelliertes Gesicht einer Frau mit grossen mandelförmigen Augen und Spitzmund, lockiges Haar, Haarschmuck sowie Polos. Halskette ansatzweise erkennbar. Auf späterem Sockel montiert. H 34,5 cm. Provenienz: - Dr. Vladimir Rosenbaum, Ascona (gem. Galleria Serodine). - Galleria Serodine, Ascona, 1970er Jahre bis mindestens 17.5.2000. - Schweizer Privatbesitz, vor 2002 bei obiger Galerie erworben. Kopf gereinigt. Kleinere Ausbrüche. Stellenweise Risse an der Oberfläche. Das Objekt wurde 2002 laut Angaben des Einlieferers an der TEFAF Maastricht präsentiert. Eine Kopie einer notariell beglaubigten Urkunde des Kantons Luzern, datiert 2003, liegt uns vor. Fotos des Kopffragments vor und nach der Reinigung sind rückseitig datiert 14.04.00 bzw. 17Mag00 sowie bezeichnet Ascona. Es ist deshalb anzunehmen, dass das Objekt bis zu diesem Datum im Besitz der Galleria Serodine in Ascona war.
