LARGE INDUS VALLEY JAR WITH FISHES AND BULLS. Ca. 2500 - 2200 BC. A large terracotta jar with two encircling painted animal registers. The vessel has a short rim above a broad, rounded shoulder and a swollen globular body tapering to a small disc foot. A narrow band sets off the figured frieze on the shoulder, the upper register showing a procession of fish. Below, a second register runs around the mid-body with zebu bulls and striding lions arranged in alternating panels, each framed by the stepped motifs. For similar see: A.
