LARGE INDUS VALLEY TERRACOTTA BULL - TL TESTED.
Ca. 2600 - 1900 BC.
A pottery figure of a zebu bull with a massive cervical hump rising from the withers, modelled standing on all fours with a short, tapering neck that merges into a pendant dewlap. The head with a projecting muzzle, small pointed ears, and a pair of tall upstanding horns set high on the brow.
Size: 260mm x 230mm; Weight: 1.21kg
Provenance: From the collection of a London gentleman; formerly acquired in early 2000s in Belgium; previously in 1970s European collection.
This piece has been precisely dated using a thermoluminescence analysis carried out by Ralf Kotalla. The report will accompany the lot.
