LARGE ROMAN AMBER RING WITH SLEEPING CUPID.
Late Period, Ca. 664 - 332 BC A large amber ring with a circular hoop of thick D-shaped section, the exterior modelled with a series of deep transverse ribs that create a stepped outline. The flat bezel is surmounted by a moulded figure of sleeping Cupid with the body stretched lengthwise. Size: D:13.67mm / US: 2 1/2 / UK: E; Weight: 4.2g. Provenance: Private UK collection; acquired in Switzerland; formerly with W.R. , late 1980s to early 1990s.
