LARGE ROMAN BRONZE APIS-BULL FIGURINE.
Ca. AD 100 - 300. A bronze figurine of a bull standing four-square with the head raised and slightly turned to the side. The thick neck is marked with incised folds, and the eyes are drilled beneath prominent brows. A horizontal channel runs across the top of the head, likely for the insertion of separately cast horns. The body is compact and muscular, with a long tail curling along the right haunch. For similar see: M.
