LARGE ROMAN BRONZE OIL LAMP WITH SWAN HANDLE. Ca. AD 50 - 150. A heavy bronze oil lamp with a rounded body and a long, tapering nozzle pierced with three small holes and terminating in an angled spout. The tondo is decorated with a series of concentric grooves surrounding the central filling hole. A large vertical handle rises from the rear and ends in a swan’s head with an arched neck, flaring collar, and detailed beak. The flat base is recessed with a raised central boss surrounded by concentric rings. For similar see: The British Museum, Museum number 1903,0423.1.
