LARGE SILVER BYZANTINE DIADEM WITH DANGLES.
Ca. AD 900 - 1100
A diadem formed from a tapering silver band chased with continuous geometric ornament between beaded borders, the outer face set with alternating round studs and domed bosses suspending long chains of elongated links terminating in parcel-gilt barrel-shaped beads with bands of tiny granules, interspersed with pendant fish-shaped plaques.

Provenance: Private London collection, acquired on the European art market pre 2000.
